Why I decided to become a wedding celebrant

Hello and welcome!
If you’ve stumbled upon this brand-new little corner of the internet, there’s a good chance you are planning a wedding. If so—huge congratulations!
I’m Zoe Wicks, a newly qualified wedding celebrant based right here in Harpenden, UK. Launching this website feels a bit like stepping out in a new outfit—exciting, a little nerve-wracking, but mostly just incredibly joyful.

Before we get into wedding tips and ceremony inspiration in future posts, I wanted to start by introducing myself and answering the question I get asked most often: Why on earth did you want to become a celebrant?
The simple answer? I absolutely love weddings.
Like, really love them.
But the longer answer is that for years, I attended weddings where the reception was incredible, but the ceremony itself felt… well, a bit like the "admin" part of the day. It felt like a generic script where you just insert different names.
I realized that the ceremony shouldn't just be the bit you rush through to get to the champagne. It should be the beating heart of the day. It’s the moment you actually become married! It deserves to be just as personalized, vibrant, and full of love as the party that follows.
Having recently officiated my very first weddings (which were absolute dreams!), I am more convinced than ever that there is magic in a bespoke ceremony. My passion is helping couples realize they don't have to follow a boring template; they can tell their own story, their own way.
Whether you want happy tears, belly laughs, or a mixture of both, I’m here to help make that moment feel extra special.
Thanks for stopping by my new home on the web. If you’re looking for a celebrant in Hertfordshire or beyond, I’d love to hear your story.
Love, Zoe x
